| Pandemic: $PARD Drop -Poniard Pharmaceuticals Down Poniard Pharmaceuticals ($PARD: 2.37*, +0.54, +29.50%) shares plummeted Monday after the company said that its cancer drug picoplatin did not meet the main goal in a pivotal late stage study. The trial was comparing the drug as a second-line treatment, for patients who’ve already tried another treatment regimen for small cell lung cancer ($SCLC), and aimed to show a significant survival benefit in patients taking picoplatin. In defense of the drug, Poniard said more of the patients receiving “best supportive care” were on chemotherapy. That may have been a “significant contributing factor” to the trial outcome. The company said it is contacting the FDA to request a meeting to discuss the regulatory path forward for the drug.
