Alpha

The alpha gauges the performance of a mutual fund after considering the risk. Alpha takes the volatility or price risk of a mutual fund and then compares it to a benchmark index. Alpha can also refer to the abnormal rate of return on a stock or portfolio that is above the forecasts.
