Upside/Downside Ratio

The upside-downside ratio is derived by taking the volume of advancing issues and dividing it by the volume of declining issues in the NYSE. If the ratio is greater than 1, it shows that there are more increasing stock prices in the NYSE, hence the greater the ratio, the more bullish the market.
