Volatility

Volatility is a statistical gauge of the dispersion of returns for any given security, stock or market index. Quite simply, it is the amount of risk about the size of changes in a security or index. High volatility means that a security's value might dramatically change over a short period of time. A lower volatility often translate to more price stability.
