Dividend

A dividend is basically a distribution of part of a corporation's income to its shareholders. For companies, it is a dividend payouts to a certain class of shareholders are decided by its board of directors, and is quoted on a per share basis, or as a percentage of the stock's current price. For mutual funds, dividends are the mandatory distribution of realized capital gains and income made to its investors. Dividends may be paid out in stocks, property or cash.
