What the TTM Squeeze Tells You

The TTM Squeeze identifies periods of unusually low volatility. When Bollinger Bands (which measure volatility) contract inside Keltner Channels (which measure trend range), the stock is in a "squeeze." Squeezes don't last — volatility eventually expands again, and the direction of that expansion is often telegraphed by the momentum histogram.

A bullish squeeze (squeeze active + momentum positive) is one of the highest-conviction setups in technical analysis. In penny stocks the squeeze release can be especially violent because of low float — once volatility expands, there's not much supply to absorb buying.

Risk: squeezes can fire either direction; the momentum signal is the tiebreaker but not a guarantee. To improve conviction:

  • Look for the squeeze to be in its 3rd-6th day (statistically the highest fire-rate window).
  • Confirm with rising OBV (see our accumulation scan).
  • Watch for breakouts firing (see our breakouts scan).

Indicators Used in This Scan

TTM Squeeze identifies low-volatility periods by detecting when Bollinger Bands contract inside Keltner Channels. The squeeze itself doesn't predict direction — only that volatility expansion is coming — but the accompanying momentum histogram indicates the likely direction of the eventual release. Combine a positive squeeze with positive momentum for high-conviction bullish setups.
